Reaches
decisions through consensus
The South Side Planning Forum is a neighborhood planning body formed
in 1985 and is composed of representatives from the following organizations:
•
The Brashear Association
• Friends of the Carnegie Library, South Side Branch
• South Side Chamber of Commerce
• South Side Community Council
• South Side Local Development Company
• South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association
Representatives
from religious, health, and educational institutions in the community
also sit on the Planning Forum.
Forum
meetings
Planning
Forum meetings are held monthly and are open to the public.
All meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m.
at the Brashear Association, 2005 Sarah Street.
Project
endorsement
Generally,
the Planning Forum reviews development and zoning issues that impact
the South Side and the Neighborhood Plan, whereas most exterior
renovation projects are brought before South Side Local Development
Company's Design Committee.
If you
are unsure of which body to approach for endorsement or want to
learn more about the community process, please contact SSLDC at
(412) 481-0651. You should note that the Planning Forum typically
takes 2-3 months' time to endorse projects. After the Forum's
initial review of a project, members report back to constituent
organizations for deliberation and endorsement. Only after each
group has convened and voted does the Planning Forum make its recommendation. Decisions
are made through consensus, and the Forum endorses only projects
that are supported by all of its member organizations.
