Street Homes
Completed in 2002, Shelly Street Homes was the first new housing
in the Shelly and Stella Street area of the South Side Slopes in
more than 50 years. This urban in-fill project consisted of eight
new, single-family homes. Six of the eight new homeowners moved
to the South Side from outside of the city.
New
Birmingham
Completed in 1999, New Birmingham is a 32-unit urban in-fill development.
Geared toward middle-income first-time buyers, the project involved
new construction of energy efficient housing in a townhouse format.
It won the National Association of Home Builders' "Builders'
Choice Grand Award."
Fox
Way Commons
Completed in 1997, Fox Way Commons was a phased 26-unit affordable
housing project. It entails new construction, together with the
conversion and renovation of existing warehouse and commercial structures
situated on an abandoned one-acre industrial site. This project
won awards from the Pennsylvania Society of Architects, American
Institute of Architects, and the National Association of Home Builders.
Bingham
Homes
Bingham Homes was an affordable urban in-fill housing project. It
consists of the new construction of two attached units and rehabilitation
of a third unit. All three units are situated in South Side’s
Local Historic District. This project was completed in 1994.
Edwards
Court
Edwards Court is a 10-unit affordable housing development and SSLDC’s
first residential development project. Completed in 1992, it was
the first instance of multi-unit new construction in the South Side
in more than 35 years.
